Yes, Virginia, there is a tooth fairy

February 22nd, 2010, 3:57 pm by

You have to wonder about people like Michelle Vacha, who took out a second mortgage to start a nonprofit to take care of the teeth of elderly strangers.

Well, wonder no more.

Michelle was chosen as a Hometown Hero by Pikes Peak Chapter of American Red Cross. Other Hometown Heroes will  be profiled weekly in print and on gazette.com/yourspace.  Nominees will be profiled in this blog until the big banquet to-do on April 2 at the Antlers Hilton.

In addition to running her nonprofit,  Senior Mobile Dental, Michelle, 44, works as a hygienist for Dr. Richard Cea’s Springs Dental Care office and is the mother of two young boys. And she still makes time to be the tooth fairy for seniors. She says her sons like to dress up as superheroes. Well, now she’s the one wearing the cape.

I don’t think I’ve done anything that remotely qualifies me as a hero. Have you? I guess it’s never too late.

Here’s a page from her Senior Mobile Dental Web site:
