For the sake of journalism, Grass City Gazette photographer Carol Lawrence and I have been hitting medical marijuana dispensaries (don’t call them “pot shops”) to talk to patients (these are patients — not customers) about why it’s the best medicine (it’s medicine — not weed/dope/herb/maryjane).
The medicine comes in many interesting forms: pill, cream, oil, candy, cookie, brownie. It can be chewed, crunched, drizzled on spaghetti, liquefied as Irish crème to pour in coffee. Or fired-up by joint, the old-fashioned way.
People we talked to swear by it. Like Jimmy Nuss, 61, who got a cannabis card for shoulder pain.
“I’ve been using it recreationally for years,” he says. “I wasn’t aware of the medicinal aspects. All I knew was that it made me feel good. I haven’t been to a doctor in 40 years. I’m hardly ever sick.”

Stay tuned for more reefer madness…
